Suit and tie
To us, wearing a suit and tie is a badge of honour. We dress for success and take pride in an appearance that reflects our passion for excellence.
We are looking for ambitious Recruitment Consultants to grow with a business that intends to become the largest medical recruiter in the UK and globally, while taking a sustainable and highly profitable approach.
High-level, high-niche permanent recruitment of senior medical consultants into the NHS and global healthcare providers.
For decades the NHS has looked for solutions to an ever-present recruitment problem. Put simply, there are not enough doctors to serve the growing needs of a growing population.
Many agencies sell the quick fixes that shift the problem around the system: locum cover, insourcing, outsourcing and bank solutions. Meanwhile BDI Resourcing helps the NHS Trusts and global healthcare providers that see the value in sustainable, permanent solutions to hiring. We have never wavered from our commitment to promote permanent recruitment only, and we have spent more than a decade finessing a methodology that, in equal parts, delivers highly successful outcomes for our clients and healthy levels of profit for our business.
Our recruiters are a reflection of that approach. Willing to do the hard things, always looking to improve, and building sustainable desks for themselves and for our business.
Locum cover, insourcing and bank fixes that shift the gap rather than close it, and then need doing again next time.
Permanent placements that hold, larger fees, and client relationships that last. Harder to do well, and the reason clients come to us.
We are a tight-knit and growing team, currently two in Bristol and five in London, planning to hire two more recruiters in 2026 and then to grow again once they are up and running. Headcount is not a metric we measure. We believe one high achiever is worth three average ones, and the intention is to always be a smaller group of exceptionally talented people.
Everyone shares in winning together, as a team and individually. There are no egos and no politics, something we have worked hard to keep in check. There are more than 20 specialised areas for us to tackle, with a replicable model that lets us expand into them, plus significant opportunities in international territories. We have a roadmap to success and a healthy team culture, so it is a perfect time to join us on the journey.
We do not pretend we are a super-corporate, mega-machine with huge systems and processes. That is often the reason our clients come to us: they need our straightforward, simple approach, delivered really well. The role suits the kind of person who wants to make a strong individual mark on a niche business, rather than being a small part of a larger machine.
Having worked with the NHS for 15 years, I steer the direction for our NHS team in Bristol. I have seen the NHS change massively over time and, with it, I have learned to adapt quickly and always look for solutions. A change in government has brought a shift in trajectory for the NHS, and I am excited to be onboarding the future talent for NHS medical recruitment to suit that.
To achieve our goals we lead with traditional recruitment values: hard work, team effort and going beyond expectations. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by people who hold high standards of themselves and each other, who always take the long-term approach and never give in. The intention is for those who join us to build on those values.
We have well-mapped, warm desks ready to join and rapid expansion plans for them. You will need to be unafraid to get stuck in from day one, because our clients are waiting for senior posts to be filled. Think of your training as a funnel.
A core few phone calls and written approaches that are straightforward to learn and take years to master. We teach you those and finesse them as you go. The key to a new skill is practice, so you will repeat these approaches hundreds of times to improve.
You master the calls, become excellent at following up, and present our solutions to clients in a way that maximises the benefit to them. This situational learning only comes as you make those initial calls, so the progress is led by you.
You learn how to convert the opportunities you have created into placements: preparing and hosting interviews, debriefing with clients, and working to the highest possible acceptance levels.
You will be led through a series of classroom and desk-based sessions to start your journey, then move through the recruitment lifecycle step by step, under the expert tuition of a director or team leader.
We are meticulous about the way we work. At the level we recruit to, we have to be incredibly proactive, so our use of LinkedIn, job boards and client-vended vacancies is minimal. The right person will thrive on building networks and making great first impressions on the phone.
Our recruitment basic salary is £28k, whether your background is in sales or recruitment. Your basic salary progresses gently with time, but the far greater opportunity comes from our high-end commission structure. Commission is tied directly to the revenue you bring to the business and ranges from 10% all the way up to 30%. The structure deliberately rewards the highest performance, so the team keeps delivering the best results for our clients.
We are a small team spread across two locations, so we will not pretend we run monthly lunch clubs or Friday beers every week. We love those things, but you are more likely to find us building our culture in the gym than the pub. Our Bristol office has a fully equipped gym and a beautiful yoga studio with several classes a week, and we encourage those with an interest in health and fitness to apply. Health, fitness and sport matter to us, socially and for the positivity and mindset they bring to our work.
Bells and whistles are not our thing. A commission structure that lets you earn a great income, and perks that suit the people we want working with us.
We want people with good values who are willing to work hard to do the right things for the long term, and who never look to cut corners or seek out quick fixes. We have broken away from traditional job-board and LinkedIn-style recruitment and moved to an approach that is far more in-depth and challenging, but that yields significantly better results for our clients and, in turn, for us.
If you believe that doing the hard things now leads to an easier life in the future, you will fit in well. Our clients are demanding, and rightly so. We recruit doctors, and job roles do not get much more important than that. We are not clinicians ourselves, but if we expect to put ourselves in similar pay brackets to them, our recruiters need to reflect the standards you would expect of them.
We are all about optimising for the best results, and these are what we have found get us there. We are not saying our approach suits everyone, but it matters to us, so check whether the following excite you.
To us, wearing a suit and tie is a badge of honour. We dress for success and take pride in an appearance that reflects our passion for excellence.
We have two beautiful office spaces in central Bristol and Liverpool Street, London. They are positive, rewarding places to spend time, and we want people who will bring even more positivity and success to them.
Doctors work long hours, and our work reflects that. We work 0830 to 1800 as our core, but you will need to be available in the evenings or at weekends if you want to be hugely successful.
We care more about how you have done things than the exact things you have done. Show us you outwork the people around you.
We are less interested in where you studied than in what you did with it. Show us you set a high bar for yourself and worked hard to come out ahead of the people around you, whatever the arena. A consistent habit of outworking and outperforming expectations tells us far more than any list of qualifications.
You will need to show us some work history, and ideally relate it to working with customers to deliver results against a target. Whatever the jobs, and whatever the level, show us you have gone above and beyond for your customers, colleagues and company. If you have thrived in a results-based setting, even better, and we want to hear about it. And if you have recruitment experience, tell us how you have delivered results that far surpass what was expected of you.
You see the value in being around a team in person. You would rather do the hard thing now for an easier life later, and you take pride in how you present yourself to clients, candidates and colleagues alike. Energy matters to us: we want people who are resoundingly positive and optimistic at a time when it is easy to feel the opposite, who believe in a great future for themselves and recognise they are in complete control of it.
Tell us about yourself and, more importantly, about how you work. Send this to us and the directors will read it personally. If there is a fit, we will be in touch to take it further.
No. We are less precious about what you have done and more interested in how you did it. Whatever your background, you will need to show us you are an incredibly hard worker who has gone above and beyond for customers, colleagues and company. If you have thrived in a results-based setting, that helps. If you already have recruitment success stories, we would love to hear them.
Yes. We have two beautiful offices, in central Bristol and by Liverpool Street in London, and the people who join us see real value in the social interaction of an in-person team. For the right people, the saving in commute time or cost is massively outweighed by the impact of being surrounded by colleagues who are multipliers.
We work 0830 to 1800, the window in which we can reach doctor candidates around their working days. We will be straight with you that those are not the only hours you will ever work. Our doctors are on nights, weekends and on-call, so you will sometimes work around them. That standard is part of why our results set us apart.
The basic salary is £28k, and your basic progresses gently with time. The far greater opportunity comes from our high-end commission scale, tied directly to the revenue you bring in and ranging from 10% up to 30%. It deliberately rewards top performance, with a realistic three-year on-target path of about £40k in year one, £90k in year two and £140k in year three.
Think of it as a funnel. At the top are a core few calls and written approaches that are straightforward to learn and take years to master, and you will repeat them until they are second nature. In the middle you become excellent at following up and presenting our solutions to clients. At the bottom you convert opportunities into placements, running interviews and debriefs. It is situational coaching through classroom and desk-based sessions, always with a director or team leader close by.
Your application comes straight to us and the directors read it personally. If there looks to be a fit, we will get in touch to take the conversation further. If you would rather send a CV, email it to consultants@bdiresourcing.com.
If that is how you already think, you will fit in well here. We would like to hear from you.
